ARNHEM '44, operation market garden

Was Operation Market Garden a daring plan that almost succeeded, or was it in fact, fatally flawed before it even began?

It's a daring Allied plan to drive deep behind enemy lines into German-held Holland. In the largest airborne operation in history, more than 30,000 British, American and Polish troops are landed miles behind enemy lines. The idea is to end the Second World War by Christmas. But far from being a decisive masterstroke devised by the British Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery, Market Garden is a disaster, one of the Allies worst defeats in World War Two. The question is, why? Using groundbreaking new research on the ground over which the campaign was fought, we uncover new insights in the fields of intelligence, communications, weaponry and terrain.
